IBM City One

IBM is releasing a "serious" game that seems on the surface to be a Sim City like game. The goal is to build smarter more sustainable cities. One of thing things IBM is doing towards its "smarter planet" goal. Look Forward to it in the fall of this year.



The usefulness of Video games has long been debated. It seems that IBM is taking the pro-video game approach. In CityOne, IBM states that one of its goals is education. Serious games @ IBM hints that CityOne may be the one of many games IBM will use to promote its IBM solutions. How well the game will integrate real world problem solving and fun game play will be critical. It is fun to see big companies like IBM finally realizing the potential of video games and actually putting efforts towards exploring it.
